About this position

The Merchandise Manager / Assistant Merchandise Manager is responsible for supplier management and development, product management and development, achieving sales targets, pricing and promotional programs, and team management.

Responsibilities

• Identifying suppliers who can co-develop products
• Cooperating and maintaining good relationships with reliable suppliers
• Committing to agreements made with suppliers
• Visiting suppliers and producers
• Conducting market research and analysis
• Coordinating with concerned Director, Sr. Buyer, and Buyers
• Monitoring the performance of products
• Identifying causes of shortfall and planning actions to improve performance
• Working with Marketing team to develop new launch activity in stores
• Ensuring products being developed match or exceed quality benchmarks
• Pricing products lower than the benchmark
• Working with Marketing team to produce an effective Makro Mail Program
• Feeding back market information, competition information, projects, sales and profit results to line manager and supported team
• Providing necessary information and documents to stores
• Making regular store visits to detect operational problems
• Following up on product quality and presentation
• Providing necessary information to the Commercial Director and concerned Sr Buyer

Requirements

• Master degree in Business Management, Marketing, Economics or related
• At least 2 years of managerial experience in commercial sourcing or buying operations
• Effective negotiation and communication skills
• Strong capability in dealing with different parties and levels
• Strong result-oriented, resourceful, attention to details, and analytical skills
• High flexibility in terms of time and traveling
