Why look for resilience qualities in new hires?
By definition, resilience is the capacity of someone to recover quickly from difficulties, as often put to have a "thick skin", a certain level of toughness.
Being resilient is especially useful when jobs are expected to have a lot of "up and down". A resilient individual will be emotionally less impacted by difficulties and able to carry out their duties without associated stress or distress.
Such stress could become a cause for a lack of engagement, a reduction in performance, and even resignation.
