EAL Assistant Learning and Teaching (from August 2024)

• Act in accordance with all safeguarding expectations for staff working at the College at all times.
• Develop a deep understanding and positive relationship with every EAL student assigned to support
• Work in collaboration with Class Teachers and the EAL Team to develop teaching schedules for assigned EAL students in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Provide in-class support as appropriate, working in collaboration with Class Teachers and ALTs to maximise the impact of the support provided
• Plan and deliver focused language learning opportunities, informed by identified next steps, for assigned EAL students, either through one-to-one or small group sessions
• Where appropriate, use play-based techniques to develop language learning
• Where appropriate, do regular 1:1 reading with EAL students, developing comprehension and language abilities
• Carry out progress assessments for the assigned EAL students
• Take a leading role in termly EAL assessment meetings for all assigned students
• Attend and contribute to weekly year group planning meetings in the age-ranges of assigned students
• Participate in EAL specific parent meetings for assigned students
• Share best practice discussion and peer observations with the EAL team as required
• Attend regular PD to further support develop skillset
• Undertake all other duties as deemed required for the role
